A white stretch limo pulled up to the front door of Toys R Us on a sunny afternoon. She was greeted by pink and purple polka-dot balloons, Geoffrey the Giraffe, a badge titling her a “team member” and an empty shopping cart just waiting for her to fill.
It was the day for 3-year-old Jaida’s shopping spree wish, and she knew exactly what she was looking for – toys. Lots and lots of toys. Jaida, her family and wish volunteers scoured the isles, collecting the items Jaida was looking for. After laughing with Geoffrey the Giraffe, the group piled in the limo and headed to Best Buy to pick up the final item on Jaida’s wish list – her very own iPad.
Still smiling from the shopping excursion, Jaida studied the iPad choices before settling on one sporting a vibrant yellow. It was the perfect iPad for the girl who loves to make people laugh.
“It was an amazing day with an amazing little girl,” said Patrick, Jaida’s wish-granting volunteer. “It was the simple things that excited her. I don’t even think it was about getting anything – it was the thrill of shopping and being free to lead us on an exciting adventure.”
To complete the day, Jaida’s volunteers threw her a party at Chuck E Cheese, where Jaida and her family enjoyed the games, rides and food.
