Shortly after 12-year-old Abigail was diagnosed with brain cancer in September 2010, she was referred to Make-A-Wish® Michigan. She then spent a lot of time carefully considering what her perfect wish would be including her love for singing, swimming and riding horses.
Just over a year after her diagnosis, she had started taking horseback riding lessons. Ultimately, Abby decided that her heartfelt wish was a horse of her very own. Abby’s riding instructor, Emily, wanted to help make this wish come true by choosing the perfect horse for Abby.
Make-A-Wish Michigan helped Abby’s wish come true in February 2012. She was overfilled with joy as she met her very own horse, Tiger Lily.
“One thing I know for certain, there is no greater joy than a girl with her horse,” said Abby’s wish-granting volunteer.
Today, Abby continues to take riding lessons and absolutely loves spending time with Tiger Lily. Abby’s mom and grandmother watch her lessons regularly, even when she spent three straight days riding.
“It is a dream come true,” said Abby’s mom.
