Her joy was apparent as she dashed from the ghostly mansion to the enchanted castle. Myanna and her brother couldn’t stop smiling from the thrilling adventures of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World® Resort. Myanna was able to enjoy the sunshine away from long, unexpected hospital stays and chemotherapy treatment.
It had been almost two years since Myanna was diagnosed with bone cancer. She had surgeries to remove the tumor and place the bone in her arm with the fibula from her leg.
A social worker referred Myanna’s mom to Make-A-Wish Michigan and soon after her wish planning began. Myanna had heard of Walt Disney World Resort and was curious to see the magic.
“I love Disney. I had never been to Disney World,” said Myanna on choosing her wish. “I heard it was an awesome place to visit.”
Yet, the enchantment of Myanna’s wish began before they arrived in sunny Florida. It started when she took her seat on the airplane.
“It was my first time on an airplane, and I loved that experience,” she said.
The trip allowed Myanna and her family to make memories, take a breath and enjoy the smiling moments together.
“(The trip showed me) that just because you are sick, you can still enjoy yourself,” Myanna said. “It meant a lot that Make-A-Wish allowed all of this to happen for my family.”
