Brighton, Mich., October 2018 – Make-A-Wish® Michigan is pleased to announce six new board members were recently elected to the organization’s volunteer Board of Directors:
- Dirk Bloemendaal, Managing Counsel/Corporate Government Affairs, Amway
- Donna Doleman Dickerson, Chief Marketing Officer, GreenPath Financial Wellness
- Tina Kanis, Community Volunteer, Holland
- Roland Pascua, Community Volunteer, Rochester Hills
- Korey Thomas, Director of Global Policies & Procedures, Whirlpool
- Todd Van Tol, Senior Vice President, Health Plan Business for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
Bloemendaal, of Holland, is an active member of the State Government Affairs Council, Grand Rapids and Michigan Chambers, Michigan Manufacturers Association, Grand Rapids Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan. He also currently serves on the boards for Michigan Chemistry Council and the Holland-based nonprofit Mika’s Lunch. He has worked in state and local government affairs for Amway for over 35 years.
Donna Doleman Dickerson
Doleman Dickerson, of Ann Arbor, experienced the power of a wish firsthand in 2009 when Make-A-Wish Michigan granted her daughter a wish to go to meet the princesses at Walt Disney World® Resort. Today, she is a strategic marketing executive with over two decades of experience in for-profit and nonprofit organizations. As Chief Marketing Officer at GreenPath Financial Wellness, Doleman Dickerson develops the organization’s national brand strategy as it expands its focus on financial health.
Kanis’ daughter, Caroline, was diagnosed with DIPG – a form of brain cancer – in March 2016 at the age of nine. Caroline and her family went on a life-changing wish trip to Paris shortly after her diagnosis. Since then, Kanis, of Holland, has passionately promoted the Make-A-Wish mission as a community volunteer.
Pascua, of Rochester Hills, has biked in Make-A-Wish Michigan’s annual Wish-A-Mile® Bicycle Tour since 1999 to raise funds to make wishes come true. Pascua is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management and also serves on the board for Hope Water International and Challenge Detroit.
Thomas, of Holland, a Finance and Accounting leader with twenty years of experience, is a member of the Michigan Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as sits on the boards of MSU External Advisory Board for the Accounting Department, and the Zeeland Educational Foundation.
Todd Van Tol
Van Tol, of Canton, hiked in the second annual Trailblaze Challenge recently with his son to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Michigan. Van Tol is a member of the National Management Association as well as the United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society. He also serves as a mentor to University of Michigan Ross MBA students.
Since 1984, Make-A-Wish® Michigan has granted more than 9,500 wishes to Michigan children with critical illnesses. Based in Brighton, Mich., with an office in Grand Rapids, Make-A-Wish Michigan is funded through community support. 80 percent of each dollar supports the Michigan wish-granting program.
