Michigan senator helps teen's Make-A-Wish dream come true

WASHINGTON – It turns out not everyone reviles Congress: Some people actually dream of being there.

On Tuesday, 18-year-old Tom Stephenson of Greenville — who has been diagnosed with a congenital heart condition — got to shadow U.S. Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic organization, which helps children with critical conditions see their wishes come true.

In name, at least, he got to be "senator for a day."

WASHINGTON - We all know the good work the Make-A-Wish Foundation does. That work was made all the better by a sitting U.S. Senator who welcomed a young local man to Washington.

Sen.Gary Peters (D-MI) hosted Thomas Stephenson of Greenville. The 18-year-old was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition, but that has in no way stopped his passion for politics. He wanted to have a first-hand look at how Washington works. Make-A-Wish reached out to Peters and they made it happen.

Realtors celebrate granting 125 wishes to ill children


Greenridge Realty is celebrating a philanthropic accomplishment of helping grant its 125th wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. It's a milestone nearly a decade in the making. Since 1999, agents with Greenridge have been donating money from their commission checks to Make-A-Wish.
