Robyn, 9, who wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort, was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition when her mother was eight months pregnant.
"We were very sad at first, but after learning about the condition and that we had options we were very excited to be expecting our first child," Robyn's mom, Magda, said.
During Robyn's first surgery, she suffered many complications leading to her coming home with a feeding tube and connected to oxygen.
"Robyn was diagnosed before birth, so she is not aware she was missing out on anything," Magda said. "She knows that we are very cautious with her, and she doesn't like that at all."
After multiple conversations with Robyn's doctor and a few of her teachers, the family has learned that Robyn has the ability to regulate herself, and she now plays with more joy than before. The family added to that joy once they learned about Make-A-Wish® through a routine visit with Robyn's cardiologist.
"She loved everything about the village we stayed at," Magda said.
Robyn was able to have all the ice cream she could imagine while participating in many activities. She even met Chef Mickey!
"We truly enjoyed the trip and did not want to leave," Magda said. "We can't describe the feeling you get as a parent when you see your child so happy."
Robyn’s wish was more than a week spent in Florida. Her wish has had a life-changing impact on her family that they will never forget.
“Make-A-Wish has given us an amazing gift,” Magda said. “Nothing will ever compare to our Make-A-Wish experience. Make-A-Wish makes people forget about their daily sorrows, pain and sadness, and gives you a magical time that will remain with you forever! Robyn still talks about her trip and how she wants to return. A part of Robyn will always be at Give Kids The World Village and to us that is so beautiful!”
