Matthew’s curly hair nudged out from under the brown hood of his Jedi suit. His face fixed in determination and light saber posed in position. Matthew, 7, was ready for a battle with the ultimate villain.
During his wish trip to Walt Disney World® Resort, Matthew became a Jedi in his ultimate goal to fight Darth Vader.
“Because I’m a super hero,” Michael answered when asked why he chose his wish.
He finally had the chance to just be a kid and exhale with his parents and four siblings.
“This trip offered so much excitement that impacted Matt’s health in a positive way,” said Matthew’s mom Erica. “His overall health improved, his oxygen saturation was better that it had been in months, and his energy…let’s just say it was infectious. The whole family was running on a pure high.”
Matthew recalls memories of the trip to strengthen him during the medically challenging times. Matthew appeared better, even stronger during the trip.
“It’s amazing how there are no doctors, yet each day he was a little better,” she said. “We will never forget the happiness Matthew felt. That happiness will always be something that – no matter what the future holds – we as his family will never let slip away… (Make-A-Wish) gave us a lifetime of smiles, memories and pure happiness that we will cherish forever and a day.”
