Wendy Comar

Granddaughter's wish inspires volunteer

When Wendy Comar’s granddaughter was sick, she was granted a wish to go on a Disney Cruise Line®, where she swam with the dolphins. After seeing the impact Lucy’s trip had on her family, Comar decided to give back to Make-A-Wish® Michigan.

For the past four years, Comar has served as a wish-granting volunteer, raised money for Make-A-Wish Michigan, and volunteered during the Wish-A-Mile® Bicycle Tour cheering on the riders as they cross the finish line. In her time as an active volunteer, Comar has helped to grant 16 wishes.

“Make-A-Wish is an awesome organization with fabulous, caring people doing great things for deserving children,” Comar said. “It gives me great joy when I know my wish child is getting their wish.”

When Comar is not volunteering for Make-A-Wish Michigan, she works as an Operations Manager at a large financial institution, paints flower pots and spends time with her sweet golden retriever, Nick.

She encourages others to get involved with Make-A-Wish Michigan.

“You will be so glad you did,” Comar said. “There are many ways to help these deserving kids; donate money or air miles, fundraise, volunteer... It all helps these wish kids so much!

“It is a very meaningful experience for me, every time! The joy it brings to families is… priceless!”
