On Sept. 9 hikers and Make-A-Wish supporters came out to take part in our inaugural Trailblaze Challenge! The challenge is a 21-mile hike through some of northern Michigan’s most beautiful trails. The experience is meant to mimic the journey that many Michigan wish kids face everyday.
Leading up to the event, participants were welcomed and encouraged to take part in a 14 week training program. The endurance trek was full of fun and adventure. Hikers raised more than $75,000 to directly impact the lives of critically ill children in Michigan.
The event mantra “it’s not a race, it’s a journey” rang true, as the community came together to reflect on the many challenges kids battling critical illnesses face. It was a weekend of memories, reflection, and hard work.
Thank you to all those who were able to join in on the hike as well as those who donated! For more information about next year’s hike, please email Jennifer Cleary or call 810-522-6532
