Make-A-Wish Michigan builds playground for two brothers


Make-A-Wish Michigan is stepping up to bring joy to two brothers fighting the same, uncommon disease. Crews were out building a one-of-a-kind playground for Ethan and Nolan Kosmerick. Both boys suffer from eosinophilic disorder, which prompts them to travel to the University of Cincinnati every 10 weeks for treatment.

A Jenison teenager has had a front row seat to history in the making in Rio. A gymnast herself, Kiley Wiers dreamed of seeing her favorite team compete in the Olympics. Thanks to Make-A-Wish Michigan, she was in Rio with her family as the team took gold.

“Wish-a-Mile” is the organization Make-a-Wish’s biggest fundraising bike riding event throughout the year.

For Rob creating Team Taylor was a way to keep his daughter’s legacy alive. “I think about Taylor being so happy. She was dealing with some serious, serious health issues.”

Jenison girl gets surprise sendoff for Make-A-Wish trip to Rio


A Jenison girl is on her way to the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro after a surprise sendoff fit for a gold medalist.

Kiley Wiers, 12, was greeted with cheers as she stepped into the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Monday morning for the trip, made possible by Make-A-Wish Michigan.

Spring Lake girl named one of Michigan's top volunteers

Aubrey Cohoon’s goal to help other people and grant wishes has landed her on the list of Michigan residents being honored for their volunteer efforts. The Michigan Community Service Commission recently announced that Cohoon, 12, has been named as one of 28 winners of the 2016 Governor’s Service Awards. She is receiving the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award.

Local man battling cancer bikes in fundraiser for Make-A-Wish

Oxford resident Mark Terrian recently joined approximately 900 cyclists for an exhausting and exhilarating event July 28-31, which raised more than $2 million for the granting of wishes for Michigan children who are battling daunting illnesses.

An avid cyclist for the past 12 years, this was Terrian’s first time participating in the 29th Annual Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour.

It was during a spin cycle class in 2003 when Marry decided to venture outdoors. She joined a Midland group that rode 300 miles on bicycles from one end of the state to the other in the three-day Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour, one of Make-A-Wish Michigan’s biggest fundraisers.

For the seventh year in a row, Aberdeen Bike and Outdoors will be the bike mechanic for the Wish-A-Mile 50, which is a 50-mile bike ride ending at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn this Sunday, July 31. Aberdeen has supported the WAM 50 all seven years of its existence. This ride benefits Make-A-Wish Michigan to help grant life-changing wishes to Michigan kids.
