“I was a program services intern... I helped plan wishes, kept track of wish files and wish budgets. I also was a contact for wish volunteers to keep me updated and in the loop of the wish kid and their family. I also had the opportunity to go on a few wishes, including a baseball wish and a room redo.”

“The night of Wish Ball was one of my favorites – the excitement and the fast pace was intense and fun! I just love seeing all the hard work come together and pay off. However, my favorite memories have been made on my adventures on WAM (Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour). I have volunteered two years in a row now and will continue to volunteer for years to come.”

“Some of my most stressful moments at [Grand Valley State University] were during the times that I was frantically searching for an internship. Then came Make-A-Wish Michigan. Being a part of Make-A-Wish allowed me to find the passion that I’ve always told myself I need in my future career. I was a development intern working mostly on the Adopt-A-Wish program. It was the best learning experience I’ve had so far—challenging, yet extremely rewarding, and taught me how to be persistent but patient at the same time. I couldn’t have asked for a better supervisor during my time at Make-A-Wish. She did an amazing job teaching me the Adopt-A-Wish process from the inside out, and was always there with guidance and acknowledgement of my hard work! I was welcomed with open arms and left feeling like I was part of another little family. The Make-A-Wish staff is a great group of people to stay connected with; I’ll also be staying in touch by being a wish-granting volunteer.”

"My experience as an intern at Make-A-Wish Michigan showed me the importance of a strong company culture. Being able to approach the CEO with ease showcased the value Make-A-Wish places on every single member of the Make-A-Wish family. I was able to learn real-life skills that where applicable to my career path. I would highly recommend Make-A-Wish to anyone who wishes to further their tangible skill-set, as well as experience one of the best work environments."

"Working at Make-A-Wish Michigan was a fantastic experience. As part of my development team internship, I would have to say my favorite part was our [Walk For Wishes] kick-off events. I was able to meet our supporters and set them up for success in the fundraising process. When the event finally came to fruition, it was great to see all the little pieces come together, including exceeding our fundraising goal, which further solidified all the hard work during the semester was worth it!"
