Development (Fundraising)

WISH-A-MILE (WAM) BICYCLE TOUR SPECIAL EVENTS INTERNSHIP

Location: Grand Rapids Office
Supervisor: WAM Logistics Manager
Description: This internship with assist with the planning and logistics of the Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour that will take place in July 2018

Responsibilities:
--Assist with behind the scenes work that goes into running the Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour.
--Assist with securing break stops, police support, and enhancements along the tour route.
--Proof read documents, and making sure that there is adequate and correct signage at the overnight, lunch and break stop locations.
--Responsible for managing the Heroes Hurrah kids activity tent, and soliciting outside in-kind vendor support.
--Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
--Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
--Must possess the ability to work 20 hours per week from January - August 2018.
--Must be available July 16-17 and July 23-30.


WISH-A-MILE (WAM) BICYCLE TOUR SPECIAL EVENTS INTERNSHIP

Location: Brighton Office
Supervisor: WAM Manager, Community & Rider Relations
Description: This internship will assist with event participants, sponsors and volunteers as well as coordinating event details, documentation and design for the Wish-A-Mile bicycle tour taking place in July 2018.

Responsibilities:
--Outreach to young professional groups/community groups, etc.
--Personal outreach to riders to recruit for 2018.
--Assist with kickoff events and other WAM third party events.
--Assist riders with fundraising questions and needs.
--Update collateral materials for the WAM website.
--Inventory WAM store and incentive items.
--Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
--Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
--Must possess the ability to work part-time through the spring.
--Availability through the summer is preferred, but not mandatory.


DEVELOPMENT & EVENTS INTERNSHIP

Location: Brighton Office
Supervisor: Development Officer - East
Description: This internship will assist with the Kids for Wish Kids/Wish Makers on Campus program. This internship will also assist with two other signature events, Trailblaze Challenge and Walk for Wishes - Southeast.

Responsibilities:
--Support Make-A-Wish Michigan by conducting outreach phone calls and emails to assist in the recruitment of schools, clubs and participants.
--Assist in the intake and review of the Kids for Wish Kids fundraising form from KFWK participants.
--Participate in strategic discussions regarding KFWK events with the overall goal of providing quality customer service and meeting specific program goals/objectives.
--Support Make-A-Wish Michigan by conducting recruitment phone calls to past event participants and volunteers.
--Help recruit and manage relationships with Trailblaze Challenge hike leaders and volunteers.
--Assist in writing copy for Trailblaze Challenge mailings (save the dates, fundraising guidebooks, training calendars, etc.)
--Support Make-A-Wish Michigan by conducting recruitment phone calls to past walkers for Walk for Wishes - Southeast.
--Secure prizes for Team Week and/or participant fundraising incentives for Walk for Wishes - Southeast.
--Contact all Walk for Wishes - Southeast teams, at least once, via phone to encourage fundraising and provide customer service.
--Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
--Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
--Must possess the ability to work part-time through the spring.
--Experience with events and/or campaigns is preferred, but not required.
--Experience volunteering is preferred, but not required.


DONOR STEWARDSHIP INTERNSHIP

Location: Brighton Office
Supervisor: Development Officer - Annual Fund
Description: This internship will assist with the stewardship and annual funds tasks for the development team.

Responsibilities:
--Assist in finding Adopt-A-Wish kids that meet certain criteria in Raisers Edge to match donors, creating recognition pieces, and calling families to obtain pictures for the program.
--Ensuring the donors are realizing the direct impact they are making here in Michigan.
--Donor research and assisting in the tracking of stewardship efforts.
--Data entry into Raisers Edge, including list management and tracking.
--Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
--Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
--Ability to work full-time through the spring is preferred, but part-time availability through the spring will also be considered.


Operations

DATA & INFORMATION SERVICES INTERNSHIP

Location: Brighton Office
Supervisor: Data & IS Manager
Description: This internship will work with the Data & Information Services team, gaining experience working in the Information Systems field in a real world environment.

Responsibilities:
--Scrub, query and export data in a dynamic database environment.
--Analyze data with tools such as Raiser's Edge and Excel.
--Assist in troubleshooting hardware issues.
--Help to install hardware and set up new users.
--Inventory hardware assets.
--Report out on projects at the end of the internship, summarizing work completed and goals achieved.
--Assist in documentation of Data and Information Systems procedures.
--Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
--Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program, with one year in an Information, Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or Business Administration program with a technology concentration.
--Must possess the ability to work part-time through the spring.
--Basic knowledge of relational databases is a plus.


Marketing & Communications

CONTENT MARKETING INTERNSHIP

Location: Brighton Office
Supervisor: Communications and Public Relations Manager
Description: Make-A-Wish Michigan believes wishes are a game-changer in a child's life, promoting the power of a wish through impactful storytelling. The Content Marketing intern will strengthen our mission of granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions by curating a strong brand voice that connects with our current audience while reaching new ones.

Responsibilities:
--Support the MarComm department, and the entire chapter through communications and public relations efforts.
--Write stories for our website, including wish stories and volunteer spotlights.
--Engage with newly referred wish families by sending out questionnaires and conducting interviews.
--Think outside the box and seeking out stories about community partners, sponsors or anyone who helps the Make-A-Wish mission in Michigan.
--Write content for email campaigns and the spring newsletter.
--Work with the social media intern to identify strong stories for sharing across multiple platforms.
--If the intern has a video production background, the intern would help to create wish story videos to be used online.
--Other duties as assigned.

--Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
--Must possess the ability to work part-time through the spring.

 

MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP

Location: Brighton Office
Supervisor: Marketing and Brand Manager
Description: This intern will play an active role in the development of Make-A-Wish Michigan’s online community. 

Responsibilities:
--Work with the Marketing and Brand Manager to maintain Make-A-Wish Michigan's presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
--Assist in creating and publishing content that is relevant to the community.
--Regularly analyze and report on social media network activity.
--Assist in maintaining Make-A-Wish Michigan's archive of digital images, videos and other content.
--Engage in social media platforms and the tools used to assess their performance.
--Other duties as assigned.

--Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
--Must possess the ability to work part-time through the spring.
